MAX MYERS

HOMETOWN: Lompoc, CA
YEARS SKATEBOARDING: Oh boy, probably 16 years now in some form or another.
STANCE: Goofy
WHO ELSE HELPS YOU OUT: I enjoy racing on Sector 9 Race Formula, riding Venom bushings, and Munkae trucks are a damn fine piece of equipment. We can’t forget Rip City Skate. The scene needs more people like JP Rowan in it. Also, Pete at Yeehaw! gets me stoked.
WHAT’S IN YOUR QUIVER: I race on the Prodigy and have been riding the new Shakedown 36 for nearly everything else.
PREFERRED STYLE OF SKATEBOARDING: Lazy man tucks leading into stand up slides in corners. The more turns the better.
WHAT’S YOUR LOCAL ZONE: I learned to skate the hills while growing up near and then living in Santa Barbara. These days I’m holding things down in San Diego, rocking the desk life.
WORST HABIT: Parsing words.
BIGGEST PET PEEVE: Bad drivers. Man, I don’t like them.
WORST ACCIDENT: I had the pleasure of impaling myself ass end first on my skateboard a couple years ago. Went into shock, lost my vision and feeling in extremities for a couple minutes. Butthole scabs are the worst. I’d go into more detail, but in reality, you don’t want me too.
BEST PART OF SKATING: Gotta be the family for sure. The fact that I can see all my buddies in so many different places in the world, and then do my favorite activity with them, is too awesome.
LAMEST PART: People representing themselves poorly on hills that we work hard to maintain good face on.
BEST EVENT: Gotta say my favorite has been the Whistler Longboard Festival. Tons of runs and a fantastic hill.
FAVORITE VIDEO: Probably Dylan Rieder’s Gravis part.
ONE THING EVERY SKATER SHOULD KNOW: Respect your hill and its locals. It won’t last forever.
