Arbor was founded in 1995 to focus on the environment in the construction of the most mindfully crafted skateboards possible. For 25 years, we have used sustainable forest products to achieve this objective. Along the way, we select the most responsible processes and components possible.
Since day one, we have used proceeds from the sale of our line to fund the preservation of indigenous forests - giving back much more than we responsibly take out.
Our Step-by-Step process to create sustainable Skateboards.
STEP 1
Only use natural, highly renewable, sustainably sourced wood and bamboo from well-managed forests, and other non-forest sources.
STEP 2
Ensure all forest products are sustainable and certified by reliable organizations, including the Forest Stewardship Council.
STEP 3
Process all forest product using methods that stretch each resource, maximizing our materials, and minimize our impact on the planet.
STEP 4
Convert our natural fiber tops into structural layers that improve pop and durability, reducing our reliance on non-biodegradable composites.
STEP 5
Reclaim all wood by-product for use in other Arbor products or by outside companies, reducing the strain on landfills and forests.
STEP 6
Regrind trimmed materials into our Signature Series wheel cores to provide high performance while utilizing materials that would have gone into landfills.
STEP 7
Use recycled crushed glass for our ultra clear re-grit surface, allowing the decks natural grain to remain highly visible, while providing better performance.
STEP 8
Support the restoration of Hawaii’s forests, giving back to the planet, and the people, place, & forests at the roots of surfing snow, sidewalk, & swell.
